Terms of Use

including withdrawal policy · Last updated: 29 October 2026

1. Scope and provider

These terms apply to the browser game “Howard Carter's Curse” at www.howardcarterscurse.com. The provider is Andre Piede, Turevägen 16, 36154 Vissefjärda, Sweden (see legal notice).

2. Player account

To play, you need an account with a player name and a confirmed email address. Accounts may be created by persons aged 16 and over; younger players only with their parents' consent. Signing up is free of charge and creates a contract of use under these terms.

Player names must not infringe the rights of others and must not be offensive, discriminatory or indecent. Do not share your sign-in details (email address) with others.

3. Services and plans

Future expansions (new tombs) are not included in the ad-free plan unless they are expressly announced as free. A discount code unlocked in the game is valid once for such an expansion and cannot be paid out in cash.

We strive to keep the game available at all times but cannot guarantee this (e.g. during maintenance or outages). We may develop and change the game as long as the core of the paid service (playing without ads) is preserved.

4. Purchasing the ad-free version

The purchase is made in the game. Beforehand, you confirm with a tick box that the ad-free version is unlocked immediately – before the withdrawal period ends – and that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal (see withdrawal policy). Clicking the button “Buy now (payment required)” takes you to PayPal; by confirming the payment at PayPal you submit a binding offer, and the contract is concluded as soon as we have received the payment. Your account is then ad-free immediately.

We will send you the contract confirmation with invoice and these terms by email. Purchases are currently only possible with a PayPal account from a member state of the European Union.

5. Fair play

Cheats, bots and other tools, deliberately exploiting bugs, interfering with servers or save data and disrupting other players are prohibited. In case of violations we may suspend the account after a prior warning – or immediately in serious cases. Amounts already paid are not refunded if the suspension is justified.

6. Term and termination

The contract of use runs for an indefinite period. You can terminate it at any time by asking us by email to delete your account. We can terminate it with four weeks' notice; if we shut down the game entirely, we will announce this at least four weeks in advance.

7. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health and under product liability law. In cases of slight negligence, we are only liable for the breach of essential contractual obligations, limited to the foreseeable damage typical of the contract. We are only liable for the loss of save data if we are responsible for it.

8. Changes to these terms

We will notify you of changes by email at least four weeks before they take effect. If you do not object within this period, they are deemed accepted; we will point out this consequence in the notification. If you object, either party may terminate the contract.

9. Final provisions

Swedish law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country in which you live remain unaffected. In Sweden, consumer disputes are handled by the National Board for Consumer Disputes, Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN), Box 174, 101 23 Stockholm, www.arn.se. We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

Withdrawal policy

Right of withdrawal

You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period expires fourteen days after the day the contract is concluded.

To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us (Andre Piede, Turevägen 16, 36154 Vissefjärda, Sweden, email: info@piede.eu) of your decision to withdraw from this contract by an unequivocal statement (e.g. an email). You may use the model withdrawal form below, but it is not obligatory. To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.

Effects of withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse to you all payments received from you without undue delay and in any event not later than fourteen days from the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract. We will carry out such reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.

Early expiry of the right of withdrawal

For a contract for digital content, the right of withdrawal expires once we have begun performing the contract after you have expressly consented to us beginning performance before the end of the withdrawal period, you have acknowledged that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal, and we have provided you with confirmation of the contract.

Model withdrawal form

Complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract.
